Our mission

Banking on Bitcoin exists to give ordinary people clear, honest information about using Bitcoin as a financial tool. Not as a get-rich-quick scheme — as a practical alternative to bank accounts, international transfers and savings products that are expensive, slow and increasingly unreliable.

The average European pays €180–€360 per year in banking fees. International transfers take 1–5 business days and cost €5–€50. Meanwhile, Bitcoin transactions via the Lightning Network cost less than €0.01 and settle in under a second. We think people deserve to know about this.

Who we are

Banking on Bitcoin is run by a small team of Bitcoin users, writers and developers who have been using Bitcoin as a financial tool since 2017. We are not traders, not financial advisors, and not affiliated with any exchange or wallet provider — except through disclosed affiliate relationships (see How we earn).

We write, test and update every guide ourselves. When we recommend a product, it's because we've used it.

Our principles

  • Honesty: we cover downsides, risks and limitations — not just the upsides.
  • Independence: no sponsored content. All recommendations are editorial.
  • Transparency: affiliate links are always disclosed. See How we earn.
  • No financial advice: we explain how things work; we don't tell you what to do with your money.
